My concern and research is summarized briefly:

Para 1: Warming in the Northern Hemisphere from 1918/19 till winter 1939/40 resulted from naval war in Northern Europe during WWI;

Para 2: with the onset of WWII a global cooling started due to naval war in the Europe’s waters, North Atlantic and since Dec.1941 in the Western Pacific, lasting until about mid-1970s.

Para 3: After the end of the Little Ice Age around 1850, a general warming was (logically) inevitable, with trend changes as mentioned in item 1&2, this may be still the main reason for warming since the LIA but not necessarily.

With regard to the question “a natural return to "normal", my answer is: The oceans (as the driver of weather and climate) work according physical laws, and in this respect the word “normal” does not fit well.
